Finally, Goa Dairy convenes annual meet

PONDA: Giving into the demands of farmers and abiding by the order by Registrar of Cooperative Society, Goa Dairy’s Board of Directors has finally convened annual general body meeting (AGM) of its stakeholders on September 2. The decision was taken during a meeting held in the dairy premises on Monday.

Though it is not a special AGM, discussion on inquiry report sent by the RCS alleging irregularities in the dairy will be one of the agenda for the meeting, as per the notice issued by the dairy. Other main agenda includes annual report of the dairy for the 2017-18 year besides others.

It may be recalled that Goa Dairy’s farmers under the banner of Satya Shodhak Samiti had demanded disciplinary action against its managing director and chairman for allegedly ignoring the RCS orders and had urged for convening special annual general body meeting to discuss the alleged irregularities unearthed through CA’s inquiry.

As per a inquiry report submitted to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies by inquiry officer Yatish G P Vernekar, many irregularities were committed in the dairy from the period 2012-17 and based on the report RCS Sanjiv Gadkar had issued show-cause notices to the directors of Goa Dairy, including its managing director Dr N C Sawant, eight present directors, three former directors and a former chairman. The irregularities pertain to the purchase of machines, ice cream plant machinery, raw material for cattle feed plant, buying of milk from outside the state and the recruitment of employees in the dairy.
