Around 1,200 to 1,600 units of blood are collected through different camps in a year by the Young Stars Charitable Trust in the district against the annual requirements of 8,000 units.

On viewing the requirement of blood, trust president Arabinda Barik declared a "Mission 100/150" for blood donation at a Press meet held here on Saturday.

Barik said the mission would help save lives of many people who are in need for blood and would create public awareness for blood donation.

He also said that the trust has planned to register blood donors within 18 to 65 age groups and persuade them to donate blood four times a year. The donors would be felicitated through different programmes by the trust, he added. Among others, trust director Bibekananda Mishra, VP Bijay Sehgal, secretary Tinku Nayak, Alok Chandra Panigrahi and Rajesh Padhi were present.
