LUCKNOW: Resident doctors at
King George's Medical University (KGMU) have threatened the medical university of going on a protest after two weeks if the administration fails to look into their demand for implementation of pay status at par with Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (
SGPGIMS) for resident doctors.
Putting their demand in writing, the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of KGMU complained that while the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff have been granted pay status at par with SGPGIMS, the resident doctors have been left out.
"This is not only a matter of pat but a matter of denial of equality, which is largely due to administrative loopholes...this is no longer acceptable to us and we are forced to protest against this injustice," read the letter.
General secretary, KGMU RDA, Dr Neeraj Mishra said, "We had planned to
cease work except that of emergency services previously from April 3 but withheld it after the university assured us of taking up the matter. Medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon and chief secretary Dr Rajneesh Dubey had assured us that the matter will be sorted out by April 11, but ever since then nothing has been done about our genuine demand."
Vice president, Dr Ganesh Yadav added, "If the administration fails to understand our point we will be left with no other option than to cease work after two weeks of the letter."
