Lawyers, police tussle in Gzb: Support for lawyers fizzles out

Putting an end to the ongoing tussle between the lawyers and Police, the "struggle committee" of Meerut region had decided to withdraw its support to the lawyer, DC Gautam, who allegedly remained at the "helm" of confrontation.

After the struggle committee clarified its stance the senior lawyers backing Gautam started to back-off one by one.

 Advocate Devki Nanadan Sharma, convener of struggle committee stated that the earlier resolution to observe strike in favor of DC Gautam has been withdrawn in backdrop of "manipulated" fact presented by the lawyer and those in his support.

On the condition of anonymity, a former bar association president said that this strike call is lowering the image of lawyer's fraternity.
