The arrested have been identified as Dharamjit Singh and Gurbir Singh, both from district.

The counter-intelligence wing of the police also impounded a truck loaded with 180 bags of poppy husk.

(AIG) Counter Intelligence H.P.S. Khakh said on Monday that the kingpins of the smuggling module, Jagdev Singh and Shinder Singh, are residents of Daulewala village of district.

"Today morning, we got a tip-off that these smugglers were coming from to in a truck number PB07-U-1945, which was fully covered with tarpaulin.

Another vehicle, a with registration number PB29-N-9314, was escorting the consignment," Khakh said.

The truck was intercepted on the Baghapurana-Jagraon road on Monday.

One person, Buta Singh, an accomplice of the smugglers, managed to escape, he added.
