Recovering well, will resume duty soon: Madkaikar

PANAJI: Ailing Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is undergoing treatment in a Mumbai hospital, on Monday conveyed to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that he is now recovering well and will resume his duties as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.

Sources in the government said that Madkaikar has written a letter to the Chief Minister wherein it has been stated that he has been admitted in the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai and is presently undergoing treatment for rehabilitation. The Power Minister was operated upon in the Mumbai hospital on June 5 following a stroke. Due to his illness, Madkaikar could not attend the recently concluded monsoon session of the state assembly.

Currently, the Chief Minister is holding the portfolios of power, social welfare and non-conventional energy, which have been allotted to Madkaikar.
