About 250 children from SIP Academy participated in a rally to spread awareness of planting trees in Besant Nagar on Sunday. They urged the residents to plant three types of trees, Mango, Neem and Amla, to protect the environment.

Neem protects the environment and helps to control floods, reduces soil erosion and reduces salination. Amla as a tropical tree offers great medicinal properties. Mango trees help to filter water, combat salinity, clean the air and increase flows into water catchments. They also provide food and shelter not only to humans but also to wildlife. The children also carried posters emphasising these points using their artwork.
The awareness creation walk was also held in several cities across the country, including Delhi, Kolkatta, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
