In a scuffle between two groups in the wee hours of Sunday in Govindpuri area two people were shot at and another got  injured.

According to police, the injured were identified as Dheeraj (29), Narender (24), and Neeraj, all residents of B Block Transit Camp, Govinduri in Delhi's South East District.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said on Sunday morning, Govindpuri Police Station received a Police Control Room (PCR) call stating that some persons were shot at and injured around 6 am. However, on reaching the spot the investigating officer didn't find anyone on the scene.

"As per our local enquiry it is believed that there was a quarrel between two boys late night near Shiv Mandir of B Block Transit Camp over the issue of making a compromise in a previous criminal case involving their respective friends. The discussion lead to a heated argument between the two and soon after initial scuffle, both called their friends from nearby area," said Biswal.

"One Kadir alias Lalla and his friends allegedly fired at the other party who had also gathered in large numbers and fled from the scene," added Biswal.

"We had also received a Medical Legal Certificate (MLC) from the Trauma Centre in AIIMS regarding two persons being shot and one injured which on investigation were linked to the scuffle incident of Govindpuri. The victims are out of danger but are unfit for statement," the DCP said.

He further said an FIR has been filed at Govindpuri Police Station under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which deals with attempt to murder and Section 27 of the Arms Act.

"Dedicated efforts to identify the other accused and arrest them are ongoing," DCP Chinmoy Biswal said.
