NEW DELHI: Markets are expected to start the week on a positive note after witnessing nearly 400 points gain on Friday.
The 30-share BSE
Sensex had gained 391 points to close at 37,556.16 while the broader 50-share
NSE Nifty soared over 100 points to close at 11,360.80.
Experts say that the equity indices would continue to be driven by earnings, with blue-chips such as
Mahindra & Mahindra and PNB slated to come out with their quarterly report cards this week.
On the other hand, monsoon would also play a key role in deciding the market trend, after the weather office said rains will be normal in August and September, boosting growth prospects of the rural economy.
However, an escalation in US-China trade conflict may hurt the market sentiments globally.
Major companies scheduled to announce their earnings this week include Adani Ports, Adani Power, CIL, M&M, PNB, BPCL,
Cipla, Lupin, Gail, Hindalco and
NHPC.
Banking, FMCG and metal stocks are among the few stocks to watch today.
