LUCKNOW: Engineering and management students of Dr APJ Kalam Technical University will soon get an international-level indoor stadium, open-air cafeteria and library. The foundation stone of all three facilities will be laid during an event on August 10.

According to university officials, the technical education department has sent an invite to President Ramnath Kovind for laying the foundation stone for the projects.

The university will offer students a multi-purpose stadium with seating capacity of 2,000 which can be changed into an auditorium as per requirement.

With a budget of Rs 16 crore, the stadium will offer students advance sports facilities like detachable seating facility to turn the indoor stadium into a boxing ring or a tennis or basketball court as and when needed.

It will also serve as an auditorium or hall where the university's convocation and other events like national conferences can be held.

"The university will organize sports meets and various state-level tournaments once the indoor stadium is ready," said vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak.

The multi-purpose indoor stadium with state-of-the-art facilities will give students a perfect platform to present their sporting talents. It will suit a wide range of requirements starting from university-level sports meet to state-level championships, he added.

He said soundproof tiles from the United States and special lighting facilities will be made available at the stadium. The indoor stadium will be made near the centre for the advanced institute and Kalam Memorial on the new university campus.

The structure will be flexible for multipurpose use, added Pathak.
