SSPMS Boarding scores 2-0 win over St Joseph

Pune: SSPMS Boarding School defeated St Joseph High School 2-0 in the third round of the Under-17 Subroto Cup Football Tournament at PDFA grounds in Dobarwadi on Sunday.

Tanmay Shinde started the proceedings for SSPMS scoring a goal in the 10th minute. Abhishek Khanekar made it 2-0 adding a second goal in the 29th to complete an easy victory. The win helped SSPMS to advanced into the pre-quarterfinals.

The day started with the Army Public School getting the better of Don Bosco High School 5-4 in the penalty shootout. The match was locked 1-all at the end of regulation time.

It was Sahil Kadam, who started the proceedings for Army Public School, scoring a goal in the 14th minute. Don Bosco eqaulised in the 27th minute with a goal netted by Dipansh Dhankar.

Then, Hutchings High School entered the pre-quarterfinal defeating St Joseph High School, Khadki, 1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored by Sayan Vargis in the 14th minute.

Loyola High School, Pashan, also advanced into the tournament with a 3-0 win over Nagarvala Boarding School. Prabhans Mathur (6th and 26th) was the star of the match, scoring a brace.
