Congress and RJD allege the prime witness has gone missing

Lok Sabha wittessed a brief adjournment and walk out by members of the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal on Monday over the issue of sexual exploitation in a shelter home in Bihar's Muzzafurpur.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan alleged that the prime witness in the sex scandal, who was kept in shelter home at Madhubani, has gone missing.

“What will the CBI investigate if the evidences are destroyed,” asked Ms Ranjan. RJD member Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav supported her and said that witnesses are being pressured and evidences are being destroyed.

As Home Minister Rajnath Singh was present in the House, the Congress and the RJD members wanted Mr. Singh to respond to their charges.

When Speaker Sumitra Mahajan didn’t allow, stating that he had already spoken on the issue and a CBI probe has been ordered, members trooped into the well of the House, resulting in a short disruption.

When the House resumed after about 10 minutes, Ms. Mahajan explained that she would direct the Central government to probe the matter in all seriousness. She also made it clear that during Zero Hour, the govenment doesn't have to respond as per rules.

Even though Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar tried to assure the Opposition, Congress and RJD members walked out to register their protest.
