Odisha Bikerni rally against molestation held

To create awareness against molestation of women and educate the victims and the bystanders to raise their voices against such acts, a prominent all-women motorcyclists’ group, Odisha Bikerni, in association with the Kalinga Motor Sports Club (KMSC) and the Bikers’ Republic of Odisha (BRO) along with the Biking Community of India (BCI) took out a bike rally called “Nationwide ride against molestation” here on Sunday.

In addition to Bhubaneswar, the ride was also conducted in 19 other cities across the country at the same time.

The event here was flagged off by Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra in the presence of prominent women personalities including Parichay Foundation head Rosalin Patasani, State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Latika Pradhan and Kasturi Mohapatra.

Over 150 plus riders from Odisha Bikerni, Kalinga Motor Sports Club and Biking Republic of Odisha participated in the rally along with members of other biking groups.

The ride commenced from Hotel Sandy’s Tower at Jayadev Vihar at 8:30 am and passed via Jayadev Vihar, Red Cross Square, Ram Mandir, Vani Vihar, Apollo Hospitals Square, Kalinga Hospital Square and eventually reached back Hotel Sandy’s by 9:15 am. A Odisha Bikerni member said, “The ride is an initiative by the entire riding community that we won’t tolerate molestation, which is an unacceptable act by any human standards.”
