14 Maoists killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh forest

16 weapons were recovered from the encounter site, says senior police officer.

Fourteen Maoist rebels were killed in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh in an encounter with security forces on Monday morning, said police.

DM Awasthi, special director general of police (anti-naxal operations), said 16 weapons were recovered from the encounter site in Mika Tong forest under Konta police station. Personnel of the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force and Central Reserve Police Force were combing the area after getting a intelligence report that 200 Maoist had gathered for a meeting.
