KMC plans to take up road repair work across city

KOLKATA: With condition road stretches getting poorer in different parts of the city every day, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation plans to take up repair work in large stretches across the city.

Sources from KMC said that primarily four road stretches, that are in very bad shape, have been identified for immediate attention. These stretches are Diamond Harbour Road, MG Road, parts of Central Avenue and Park Circus no 4 bridge approach roads. Road constructions experts will conduct surveys on these stretches.

KMC road department officials said that the continuous monsoon rains have wreaked havoc as condition of many stretches of roads across the city are very much worrying. “Road repair work is an ongoing process and work is already going on in phases. Repair work has been taken up in large stretches as well as some portions of Diamond Harbour Road where we are helping PWD which is the custodian of the road,” said an official. The KMC officials are expecting the condition of the roads to be smoother in another fortnights time.
