WATCH: 11 children rescued from squalid desert compound

Police in New Mexico have rescued 11 malnourished children who were held captive in squalid conditions in a remote desert compound.

The children were kept in a makeshift camp in the rural parts of New Mexico. 

They were were found during a search operation, with their ages ranging from one to 15 years.

Two men were arrested during the search and charged with several counts of child abuse.

The children were turned over to State Child-Welfare workers.
