An anti-corruption court here on Monday sentenced two former officials of the Agriculture Department to two years of rigorous for siphoning off flood relief for farmers in 2004.
Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge D. Ajith Kumar also slapped a fine of ₹25,000 each on the accused.
Those convicted are former agricultural officer of Kulathupuzha, Ajay Chandra of Kowadiar Bhagavathi Nagar and his collaborator in the crime, former assistant agricultural officer Ponnamma, a resident of Mailamoodu.
The prosecution case was that the accused had fudged records and forged receipts to siphon off ₹35,000 allotted as flood relief for farmers in Kulathupuzha.
Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Asok investigated the case.
Additional Legal Advisor Manoj Prabhakar appeared of the prosecution.
