Congress committed to BC welfare: Raghuveera

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N. Raghuveera Reddy accused the TDP of viewing the Backward Classes (BCs) as a vote bank and pointed out that it was the Congress party which provided 33% reservation to the BCs.

Addressing the party’s BC wing meeting here on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said both the Central and the State governments have failed in implementing their election promises related to the BC welfare and they have not even made enough budgetary allocations to those classes.

The State government’s promise to impart legal sanctity to BC sub-plan was confined to rhetoric and it could not allocate ₹10,000 crore in the budget for BC welfare every year which it had committed to at the time of elections.

Party’s BC cell national coordinator Prakash Shrawan Sonawane and APCC BC cell chairman N. Venkateswara Rao were among those present.
