New Delhi, The Lajpat Nagar– Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus section of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line was formally flagged off by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.
The section was flagged off via remote from Metro Bhawan at 1000 hrs.Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs Anant Kumar was the guest of honour at the flagging off ceremony at Metro Bhawan.
The passenger services on this section will commence from 1300 hrs on Monday.This 8.10 kilometre long section consists of six stations including two interchange stations at Lajpat Nagar and INA.
After the opening of the section, the Delhi Metro will become 296 kilometre long with 214 Metro stations.With this, length of sections opened so far of Phase III will cross 100 kms.The approval of the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) was received by DMRC on July 26 subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions and formalities.
The total network of Phase – III after opening of this section will become 106 kms.
