The Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) conducted a hearing session in which 89 complaints were heard by the chairperson of the commission Usha Negi. Hearing the case of Mussoorie International School from where some girl students had left alleging harassment, the commission asked the principal of the school to submit a proper affidavit to the commission. Along with this Negi gave direction to the police department file the report in the Mahadevi Kanya Pathshala (MKP) college case.

Talking about it, chairperson of SCPCR Usha Negi said, “In the Mussoorie International School case, we have talked to the principal of the school to provide Transfer Certificate (TC) and refund to the family of one of the students who left the school after the case. Further, settlement of the case has been done and a clean chit has been given to the school in the police probe report. However, we have asked the school representative to submit a proper affidavit on August 14, and will also form a team for checking the facilities in the school.”

In another case- regarding the MKP girls college, it will be recalled that a complaint was filed in the commission about the fight between two parties in the college. A video of the scuffle had also gone viral in which one man from outside the campus is seen jumped the boundary wall to enter the campus and siding with one of the groups of students fighting the other group. Speaking about the case Negi said, “No such behaviour will be tolerated. Colleges are not the place to fight and create a nuisance. We have given direction to the police to identify the person and file a case against him. Also, we have talked to the principal of the MKP college to take the security of the campus seriously and also to install CCTV camera in the area,” she said.
