German tennis great Boris Becker devastated that his relationship with ex-wife Lilly didn't last a lifetime

Former German tennis star Boris Becker, who announced his split from his wife Lilly amicably after 13 years of being together in May, has said that it is a 'shame' that his relationship didn't work.
Becker met Lilly in 2005, got married in Switzerland in 2009 and have son Amadeus, eight. Commenting on their divorce, Becker told Swiss newspaper Blick: "There were really better times. When you fall in love and get married, obviously you want to keep like this for a lifetime. It didn't work. It's always a shame, it hurts, it's unfortunate. Especially if you have a kid. But we are two sensible people and we will find a solution."
The former World No. 1, who announced he was bankrupt last year, has added that his financial condition isn't great like it was a decade ago. Commenting on the financial agreement, Becker explained: "Without any doubt, my wife will agree, but obviously everything needs to be right. And I can only pay for what I have. I have some money, but maybe not enough like 10 years ago." In 2001, Becker split with his first wife Barbara, after an eight-year marriage.
