Lucknow: Man arrested for murder and robbery near Raj Bhawan

LUCKNOW: The prime accused in a sensational case of loot and murder near high security Raj Bhawan was nabbed by police on Sunday.
Vinit Tewari was arrested by a special team of IG Lucknow range around 3.50 am from Lalganj in Rae Bareli. His brother- in-law Kavindra Pandey was also arrested for providing him shelter and hiding his crime.

The police recovered Rs 5 lakh cash, a country made pistol and bag of cash company from his possession.

SSP Lucknow, Kalanidhi Naithani said that Tewari had planned to loot some bank customer in order to meet an expense of Rs 50,000 and was carrying out recce since July 27.

On the fateful day, he reached the place with same intention and found a cash van parked there.

He befriended the driver and got to know during conversation that cash bags had been put inside the van.

"He later shot a guard and looted the cash ," said Naithani.

Tewari fled to Narhai where he purchased slippers and shoes and went to his house in Krishnanagar where he stayed till Saturday morning.

Vinit Tewari told that he had only committed loot for his daughter's education. "I wanted to get my daughter admitted to a boarding school," Tewari said.
