Pandey was speaking at the inauguration of the seventh batch of Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) at Indian Institute of Management – Trichy (IIM-T), where he was invited as the chief guest.
Addressing the newly-admitted PGPBM students, Pandey spoke about the global economy and how the increase in the world’s population means that the demand for energy has increased significantly. “As much as 50% of the energy comes from the oil and gas sector. Tremendous investment is required in the oil and gas industry. In fact Indian Oil Corporation is set to invest 3 lakh crore in the next 10 years,” Pandey said. He added that students with MBA degrees and good work experience would fit-in well for jobs in this sector.
“Currently, critical and strategic thinking and ethical reasoning are the most important traits required from MBA graduates,” said director of TransBiz Consulting, P Santhanam.
The total student strength of PGPBM 2018-20 is 36 with an average work experience of 11.5 years. “With a solid profiles including impressive work experience, this batch is comparable to that of other international executive programme batches,” director of IIM-T, Bhimaraya Metri said. Best academic performers of first year were given ‘Merit Awards’. The chief guest also presented the ‘Best Industry Project’ award to students of PGPBM 2015-18 batch.
