JOANNA LUMLEY'S GREEK ODYSSEY
Series premiere ★★★★
8pm, SBS
The Absolutely Fabulous star is a vision of splendour and the epitome of class, gliding through the ancient monuments of Athens and bestowing her loveliness on other tourist hot spots such as the Gate to Hades. But it is off the beaten track that she truly shines. Meeting an elderly woman who lives alone in an abandoned village, she is courteous without being patronising and is genuinely concerned for her host's emotional wellbeing.
IT'S SUPPERTIME!
Double episode ★★
5.40pm SBS Viceland
American chef Matty Matheson is so excited about making "chicken jerk" and coleslaw, he can't stop cussing. The man drops the F-bomb every time he stuffs another confusing combination of ingredients into his blender. As he explains, he grew up in a small, white-bread town where the food was rather bland, so naturally he is turned on by Jamaican flavours. His goal seems to be to inspire similarly cloistered palates to experiment with spice.
COMPASS: PITCH UP
★★★
6pm, SBS
This first of a three-part series follows the funding appeals of a food van servicing the homeless, a women's refugee literacy program, and a shelter for domestic violence victims – just three such outfits picking up the pieces that the government doesn't. The compassion and generosity on display here is overwhelming. What a great Shark Tank special this concept would make.
