Cyber crime cell nab 29-year-old man for defaming girl

Cyber crime cell of the police has nabbed a 29-year-old man on the charge of defaming a girl using her personal photographs and creating fake Instagram profile of the victim girl and posted indecent comments on the fake profile.

Police said that the accused was nabbed after a complaint of fake profile in the name of the victim was lodged with the police. The victim lodged a complaint with the cyber crime cell regarding the accused who created fake profile using her photograph.

During the investigation the police found that the fake profile was operated from the city and later the accused was nabbed who was found to be her neighbor and was acquainted with her for the past 6 years.

The accused confessed that he was one of the friends and to defame her, he created fake profile of the victim using her photographs. The accused used to send indecent comments and when the victim came to know about the fake profile through her relatives she lodged a complaint with the cyber cell.

The victim was aware of the accused and had lodged complaint against the accused with MP Nagar police and based on the complaint a case under section 506, 507 and 509 of the IPC was registered by the police.

After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 66 C and 66 D of the IT Act and started further investigation. The accused is a resident of Rajharsh Colony and used to molest and harass her.
