FA Cup champions Chelsea will hope for a season beginning trophy even though the importance of this match is dimished even more this year due to stars missing three weeks after the FIFA World Cup including Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud. Even City will be missing key players including star midfielders Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling but Pep Guardiola might hand Riyad Mahrez debut.

It is Aguero's day at Wembley as he scores his second goal of the match to double City's lead. Aguero makes no mistake this time as he slides in Bernardo Silva's assist.
City got another chance to double their lead as Aguero gets in behind again. He pulls back for Phil Foden whose shot is not strong enough for Caballero.

Twenty minutes into the game and English champions Manchester City continue to hold possession. Chelsea doesn't seem to be doing much on the field even though they win corner after Aguero's goal. Even though Sarri looks calm, David Luiz seems angry with his teammates.
Good finish by Aguero as Manchester City take 1-0 lead after ten minutes into the game. He drives hard and low into the bottom corner. This is Aguero's 200th goal for City
Not a very great start from Chelsea. City seem to be holding the possession with Bernardo Silva going forward into the box but pulls back as he doesn't find a teammate. Chelsea then gift a free-kick to their opponents.
First effort of the game comes from City’s Leroy Sane, who drags a shot wide from distance. Debutant Mahrez slams a shot into Alonso.

Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as Chelsea manager, to replace Antonio Conte, who lifted the Premier League title in his first season two years ago, came as a bit of a hard pill to swallow for the fans. Much was reported about Conte’s tough relations with the management – Chelsea’s farewell message on the website to Conte was just 61 words. But after a pre-season that sprung up a few positives coupled with a few negatives, the fans still remain unsure on what Sarri brings to the table.
