Met forecasts heavy rains till Tuesday

Intense over and adjoining districts this afternoon caused waterlogging of roads and low-lying areas in the city and suburbs, as the Met department forecast heavy for south Bengal districts till Tuesday morning.

There was, however, not much traffic snarl as today being a holiday, there were fewer vehicles on roads.

In the metropolis, Ballygunge in the south recorded 57 mm rainfall from noon to 3 pm while in the north recorded 46 mm rainfall during the same period.

The weatherman has predicted more in South Bengal districts till Tuesday morning.

A low pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining in the next two days, the Met department said.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea owing to the possibility of formation of the low pressure area.
