Senior Orthopedic surgeon and managing director of Amar Orthopedic Centre Amaranath Surat has developed a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) extraction kit in collaboration with ReGen Technologies.
The PRP procedure involves transfusion of platelet residue in tissues and regenerates growth of cells, thereby avoiding painful surgeries.
Launching the Centre for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) to mark World bone and joint Day, Dr. Amarnath said that new PRP kit is cost effective and costs just ₹ 2,500. The treatment is ideal for osteoarthritis, sports injuries, tennis elbows, wounds etc.
“We have performed 1, 000 PRP procedures using the kit. Patients suffering from osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, tennis elbow and diabetic wounds are beneficiaries of this procedure. The kit is economical and within the reach of most of our patients and gives platelet counts in excess of 10, 00,000 per micro litre consistently,’’ said Dr. Amarnath.
