Friendship Day 2018: Once couples, they are now friends


While some actors are making headlines for being ‘crazy in love’ for each other, there are others who are either divorced or separated, but continue to remain ‘good friends’. Gone are the days when celebrity ex-couples never crossed paths, but now, the new age Bollywood ex-couples are breaking the ‘break-up’ code, by sharing the friendly bond with each other. Here are a few examples:

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne KhanGiving major couple goals for everyone are Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, who, even today, continue to remain friends post divorce. The couple who college sweethearts and got married in 2000, ended their 17-year relationship in 2014. But they never let the divorce come in their way and maintained a friendly relationship for the sake of their two sons. From vacationing together to meeting for luncheons with their kids, Hrithik and Sussane still share a very emotional bond with each other.

Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Arbaaz Khan married the Malaika Arora Khan in 1988. And hence the news about their separation not only left everyone stunned but also gave rise to several questions about reason: From alleged infidelity to financial tensions, tongues were wagging. But the duo maintained their clam and didn’t let the bitter rumours affect them. Arbaaz and Malaika continue to share a close bond for their two children. While speaking to a leading daily Malaika had said, “Arbaaz is a part of my family, the father of my child. Certain equations don’t change overnight. The things that happened should remain between us. It’s personal. We don’t have to prove anything to anybody. Meeting (Arbaaz Khan) makes my son happy, and that makes me happy.”


Anurag Kashyap and Kalki KoechlinThe Gangs of Wasseypur director had once fallen for the versatile Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin. This lovey-dovey director-actor couple exchanged vows in 2011, but things didn’t remain all happy and gay for the couple when their married life hit the rocks, making the couple call it quits in 2015. But even today, Anurag and Kalki continue to remain friends and never miss a chance to boost each morale. They have often been spotted together chatting away on movie sets and award shows. Anurag has also admitted Kalki and he continue to remain good friends even after their divorce. Another couple that’s redefining relationship post-divorce.

Once love was in the air for both the stars. They began dating while shooting for Bachna Ae Haseeno, and their onscreen as well as off-screen chemistry their fans swoon. Things changed when Katrina Kaif entered the scene. And after two years of blissful relationship Ranbir and Deepika broke-up. But they stunned everyone when they came together for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha with the same old chemistry. Recently, they came into the spotlight when they walked on ramp holding hands for a fashion show. Ranbir and Deepika are setting an example on how to move on from your ex.

Ranveer Singh and Anushka SharmaThey came together for the first time on screen in Band Baaja Baaraat. And everyone went gaga over the new on-screen couple’s chemistry and cuteness. And soon enough, there were reports claiming they were apparently dating, but their alleged relationship failed to last. But a few years later they came together for the movie Dil Dhadakne Do. In an interview, Ranveer had declared Anushka will always be a special person to him. And Anushka speaking of the actor had once stated, “The thing is, I’m very fond of Ranveer. And I know he’s genuinely fond of me. He has been my friend. We both had that success together. It was a special bond that will remain.”

Salman Khan and Katrina KaifBhaijaan of Bollywood has bad luck when it comes to relationships. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, unfortunately, broke-up after allegedly dating for five years. But their on-screen relationship continued when they came together for Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 and again for the sequel Tiger Zinda Hai last year. Both the stars share a friendly relationship and have sung each other’s praises whenever given a chance. Kat was even present at Salman’s younger sister Arpita’s wedding. She has also been a part of his Dabangg tour, and currently, the actors are working on their fifth collaboration, Bharat.

Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty The affair between ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar and the sizzling Shilpa Shetty was a talk of the town during the early 90s. The actor came close during the filming of the 1994 hit, ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’. But Akshay alleged infidelity had Shilpa calling off the relationship. But they didn’t let the broken relationship stand in their way and came together for professional commitments when Akshay appeared on a reality show which was hosted by Shilpa. Later, the action star and Shilpa’s husband, Raj Kundra, partnered to co-own a celebrity-based teleshopping channel. “I share a cordial friendship with Akshay Kumar now, and I’d like it to remain that way. There’s no animosity between us,” Shilpa had once said. Let us hope this ex-couple continues to remain friends.
