Police personnel will be posted to monitor the visuals from the network round the clock

The Big Bazaar police station has joined hands with a private firm in setting up a surveillance network comprising 36 CCTV cameras. The facility was inaugurated by Police Commissioner K. Periaiah on Saturday.

The surveillance network will cover areas coming under the limits of Big Bazaar police station such as Oppanakara Street, Raja Street, Town Hall, Vysial Street and Karuppa Gounder Street.

Apart from the cameras, public addressing systems are also fitted at these places.

The police will use the public addressing system to give directions to motorists at the time of congestion and emergencies by watching visuals from places covered by the CCTV network. Police personnel will be posted to monitor the visuals from the network round the clock.

The cameras, sponsored and set up by Media Today C.G. Media, are connected to police outposts at Town Hall and T.K. Market. The police said that the private firm, which will also take care of the maintenance of the surveillance network, has plans to increase the number of cameras to 50 soon.
