Eleven camels that were smuggled to Hyderabad and Sangareddy from Rajasthan for slaughter and joyride a few months ago, started their journey ‘back to home’ on Sunday, after being rescued by police and a city-based NGO.
Of 20 desert ships rescued by Balapur police and the Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (GHSPCA) , an NGO in June, nine died due to the climate and unhygienic conditions.
“As many as 15 were rescued from Sangareddy and five from Balapur. They were treated at goshalas,” said Soudharm Bhandari of GHSPCA.
