Sonali Bendre shares new bald photo clicked by Hrithik Roshan, says she’s ‘really happy in this moment’

True love can be born out of adversity and perhaps there is no better advocate for this than Sonali Bendre. The Bollywood actor is getting treated for cancer in New York but despite her diagnosis and chemotherapy, she says she is really happy. The actor wished people on Friendship Day and also revealed how her buddies -- Sussanne Khan and her ex-husband Hrithik Roshan as well as Swadesh actor Gayatri Oberoi -- have become her “pillars of strength”.

The actor, who has now gone bald – a side effect of her treatment -- has shared a new photo from the US in which she can be seen with best friends Sussanne Khan and Gayatri Oberoi. Giving the photo credit to Hrithik Roshan, she wrote, “This is me. And in this moment, I am really happy. People give me strange looks when I say that now, but it’s true and I’ll tell you why. I am now paying attention to every moment, looking for every opportunity to find joy and #SwitchOnTheSunshine.”

Accepting that the journey has been difficult, she added, “Yes, there are moments of pain and low energy, but I am doing what I like, spending time with people I love, and feeling very loved and happy. I am extremely grateful to my friends, my pillars of strength, who at a moment’s notice, arrived to be with me and help me through this. In between their busy schedules they find time to visit, call, message, FaceTime... basically never leaving a moment for me to feel alone. You know who you are) @gayatrioberoi @suzkr.” She also proved that her sense of humour is holding her in good stead as she wrote as postscript, “P.S. Sonali was diagnosed with ‘high grade’ cancer that has metastised. revealing her diagnosis, she had written earlier, “Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for.”
