Codissia-like exhibition complex may come up in Tirupur soon

Tirupur: The state government will take steps to establish a Codissia-like exhibition complex in Tirupur, said state animal husbandry minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan.
He said this after inaugurating the 18th edition of knit show in the city on Sunday.

“The knitwear industry is one of the industries, which adapts to new technologies rapidly. Hence, a state-of-the-art complex is vital so that it can conduct exhibitions often,” he said, adding that he will talk to chief minister to take steps to establish the facility soon.

The three-day event is underway in a private hotel exhibition complex on Kangeyam Road. It features more than 500 stalls showcasing latest technologies and technics on knitwear and apparel industry.

Apparel Export Promotion Council’s vice-chairman A Sakthivel said, “Tirupur cluster has witnessed the worst dip in the last three and a half decades. The industrialists were requesting the governments to increase the rates of rebate on state levies and duty drawback.”
