Coimbatore: The Kuniyamuthur police have prepared a detailed report against ‘Healer’ Baskar’s ‘NISTAI’- the International Life Style Training Centre. The report will be submitted to the revenue division office (south) on Monday. Based on the report, the RDO is expected to take steps to close the centre at Kovaipudur.
In the report, police said Baskar is a civil engineer and has not completed any studies in medicine and not qualified to offer any medical treatment. He started the centre in a rented building at Kovaipudur three-and-a-half years ago. Baskar has a certificate in acupuncture treatment. But he had taken classes at the centre and visited many places, including Singapore, to promote treatment without medicines.
“Baskar does not have any valid certificate to take such classes. Baskar promoted himself through social media and YouTube. He has created nuisance to the public and as per section 133 CrPC, we are going to submit our report to the RDO (South) S Dhanalingam on Monday. Dhanalingam has the rights to close the training centre,” said a senior police officer.
Police said Baskar never collects money from his patients for treatment at the centre. Instead, he used to collect money in the name of his trust as donation. He used to tell his patients that the donated amount would be used to upgrade the lives of poor.
Baskar, a resident of Selvapuram in the city, owns ‘Anatomic Therapy Foundation’.
Baskar was arrested on Thursday after the public health department lodged a complaint against him with the Kuniyamuthur police, who registered a case. Baskar was arrested for inviting the public through WhatsApp to participate in a workshop on August 26 at his centre on delivering baby at home without medicines, scan, test and medical assistance. The Kuniyamuthur police have registered a case against Baskar under sections 420 (cheating) and 511 (attempts to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before a judicial magistrate and was lodged at the Coimbatore central prison.
