Rahul, Kejriwal, Tejashwi join Jantar Mantar protest

Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and several prominent leaders from Opposition parties, joined a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday evening against the rape of nearly three dozen girls in the shelter home of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar.

The Congress president said that Nitish Kumar has termed it as a matter of shame. “If Nitish Kumar is ashamed of Muzaffarpur rape incident, he should  immediately take action against those involved. We stand with women of India, girls and their families who suffered,” he said.

Kejriwal demanded that the investigation should be completed in a span of three months. Targeting Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government, Delhi Chief Minister said that the Bihar Government was trying to protect the culprits.

Hitting out at Nitish Kumar, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that Nitish Kumar is still protecting the culprits. “He remained quiet for three months after the brutal incidents were exposed but the main accused Brajesh Thakur has got away lightly. Why he is not yet arrested?,” Tejashwi alleged. “These girls were placed in the shelter homes to protect them from evil but look at what happened to them,” said Yadav, the leader behind the protest.

Prominent leaders who joined the protest included CPI's D Raja and Atul Kumar Anjan, Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav and Trinamool Congress's nominee Dinesh Trivedi.

Tejashwi has been targeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the alleged rape incident at the shelter home in Muzzafarpur.  The Bihar government has handed over the case to the CBI.Various speakers at the protest demanded stringent punishment against those involved in the heinous crime.
