Leaving out students in total despair, the biggest State-owned University, even after introducing online mode of admission to ensure the completion of admission process on time, is yet to release the first admission lists of the students enrolled in different streams. Notably, from the academic year 2018-19, the State-owned universities have invited application through online medium –’Chancellor Portal’.

After facing several technical glitches in the beginning of admission process, the university has to extend the admission dates. The Ranchi University (RU) extended the dates for submitting the online admission forms four times. As per university’s record and tentative list released earlier from Vice-Chancellor’s Office, RU should have completed the admission procedure in post-graduation (PG)streams on or before July 31.

In an attempt to ease the burden of university personnel on major frontages, especially to regularize the examination system and simplify the admission procedure, the Department of Higher, Technical and Skill Development introduced online mode of admission. “Attempts are being made to resolve the issue at the earliest. In a day or two, decision will be taken to release the merit list. Most probably, by August 8, the status of admission will be clarified,” said RU Pro (VC), Dr Kamini Kumar.

According to the sources, after receiving quite a number of complaints from the students in filing online application, the university may not release the merit list online. Also, besides sending a letter to the Department of Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development about the current status of admission, the university persons have also sent a letter to the Governor House making them familiar with the situation. Also, a university official on anonymity said that one admission list have been provided to the varsity by the representatives, maintaining the ‘Chancellor Portal’
