The Manglauru East police have arrested Prashant Poojary, 24, of Bantwal for allegedly putting up a derogatory post on a social networking site about Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
It was the social media monitoring cell of the city police that noticed the post made on the Instagram account ‘Kudlatrols’. He allegedly posted the image of a woman pointing to a photograph of Mr. Kumaraswamy and asking if her daughter recognises him. A derogatory word is used in the daughter’s ‘reply’.
On being alerted by the cell, the city police registered a suo motu case and arrested Poojary. He has been booked under Section 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and Section 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police said action would be taken against those who have made derogatory comments about Mr. Kumaraswamy under Poojary’s post. More than 1,600 persons have commented on the post.
