The government is committed to the well being of minorities in the State, Public Works Minister G. Sudhakaran has said.
He was inaugurating the distribution of the first instalment of financial aid to beneficiaries of the Imbichi Bava Housing Scheme under the State Minority Welfare Department here on Saturday. “Minority communities are safe in the State. The State government will not take a stance against them,” Mr. Sudhakaran said.
The Minister said the housing scheme was introduced to address backwardness of the Muslims and Christians in the State. “The scheme was introduced during the tenure of the V.S. Achuthanandan government. The State government has increased the assistance under the scheme from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹4 lakh,” Mr. Sudhakaran added. As many as 150 beneficiaries were given aid in the function. Civil Supplies Minister P. Thilothaman presided.
