GURUGRAM: An
inspector posted in Panchkula crime branch created a ruckus in a Gurugram
court on Thursday evening after being remanded in judicial custody for failing to appear before the
judicial magistrate earlier despite being repeatedly summoned in an
accident case. He was, however, released on bail by the same court on Friday.
After ignoring court summons for some time, sources said, inspector Manoj Hooda went to the court with his lawyer around 3.30 pm on Thursday. “He was asked by judicial magistrate first class to wait for some time. But he probably sensed the magistrate’s unhappiness over his behaviour and left the court soon,” source said. When magistrate asked his counsel to present him, inspector Hooda was nowhere to be seen.
“By that time, he had reached near Jhajjar. His counsel, however, persuaded him to come back and it was around 7.30 pm he appeared before the magistrate. Taking strong view of his actions, the court sent him to judicial custody. But he then created a ruckus by snatching the jail warrant from the hand of a cop who work in court and swallowed the same,” said sources.
The drama went off for around four hours. Police were finally called in and it was then that he revealed his identity. “But it was too late and he was taken to
Bhondsi jail. He was released on bail on Friday morning,” sources said.
A senior police officer said that he had failed to appear in court in the accident case, registered against him at Sector 9A police station. “As he created a ruckus in the court in the presence of a magistrate, a departmental inquiry could be initiated against him,” he said.
