Vadodara: A 79-year-old woman living in Dabhoi lost her gold bangles worth Rs1.5 lakh to two conmen, who promised to shine her ornaments using a liquid solution, on August 2. Victim Shakuntala Shah gave her complaint to police on Saturday.
Police said the two accused aged around 25 years came to Shah’s house on August 2 to sell a liquid solution that could help get back shine of any metal. Shah told police in her complaint that they cleaned iron chains of a swing in her house and also regained shine of a copper ring.
The accused then applied three drops on Shah’s bangles and asked her to remove them. They then took the bangles inside the kitchen and poured water in a utensil for boiling. When Shah entered the kitchen, the duo quickly walked out of there. By the time, the elderly woman realized that she had lost her bangles, the duo had fled.
