Five devotees killed, 7 injured in UP's Jaunpur district

VARANASI: At least five devotees were killed and seven others were injured when their vehicle collided with a stationary trailer near Nizamuddinpur village on Jaunpur-Raebareli Highway in Machhlishahar area on Jaunpur district in late night on Friday. The injured persons were admitted to the hospital.
According to reports, as many as 12 devotees from Varanasi district were going to Kade Dham in Allahabad district to offer prayer on Saturday. They moved to their destination in a Bolero around 12 midnight. The driver lost his control over the vehicle while crossing through Nizamuddinpur village around 1am, and the vehicle collided with a trailer parked on roadside.

Hearing the cries local residents rushed to the place and started rescue work. The police also reached there after getting information and took the injured persons to the community health centre in Machhlishahar, where five of them were declared brought dead.

The deceased were identified as Manoj Patel (28) of Akatha, Sarnath, Jai Prakash (35) and his wife Sarita Devi (35) of Lakhraon, Balua Ghat, Sushila Devi of Badagaon, and Sharmila (20) of Badagaon. The injured persons including Virendra Patel, Jitendra Patel and his wife Urmila and daughter Shakshi, Premshila, Kishan and Karishma are under treatment.
