The distribution of bonds of the farmers’ insurance scheme, stated to be first of its kind scheme for the farmers in the country, would be launched on Monday, said Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender.
Participating at a review meeting on farmers’ insurance scheme, Kanti Velugu, land record purification and other schemes in Karimnagar town on Saturday, the Minister said that the Rythu Bima bond papers would be distributed to the farmers the villages from Monday. He said that the insurance coverage of the farmers would be applicable from August 14 midnight. Under the scheme if any farmer dies of natural death or accidental death, his or her nominee would get ₹ 5 lakh, he stated. He said that they would cover all the farmers who were benefited under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.
Kanti Velugu
The Kanti Velugu (eye screening) camps would be conducted from August 15 (Independence Day) to January 26 (Republic Day) on a campaign mode for complete eradication of blindness in the State. He said that they had constituted 799 medical teams and additional 100 teams for the conduct of eye screening camps in all the villages and distribution of spectacles and conduct of any surgeries free of cost.
With regard to the land record purification works, he instructed the revenue officials to expedite the process of land record purification works and provide accurate land details in the passbooks. State Cultural Council Chairman and Manakondur legislator Rasamayi Balakishan called the Kanti Velugu’ scheme a boon to the villagers who were suffering from various eye ailments.
ZP chairperson Tula Uma said the Kanti Velugu would be of immense help to the beedi workers, who were suffering from eye ailments because of round-the-clock rolling of beedies. Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad instructed revenue officials to distribute the passbooks at the earliest. He directed the officials to ensure that all the farmers were covered under the farmers insurance scheme. MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, legislators G. Kamalakar, B. Shoba and Putta Madhukar, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, SUDA chairman G. V. Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.
