CS to Bankers: Expand bank network in LWE pockets

Chief Secretary Ajay Singh on Friday asked bankers to expand branch network of banks in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) pockets of the State.

He was chairing the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) Meeting at the Mantralaya here.

The Chief Secretary asked bankers to install more ATMs in the LWE pockets for expanding banking services.

The representatives of banks also made presentations on lending operations of banks under various Central and State Government schemes.

It was informed in the meeting that more than 10.36 lakh persons were benefitted under Prime Minister Jeevan Jyoti Yojana.

A total of 45.16 lakh people had been insured under Pradhan Mantri Surakha Yojana.

Under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, more than three lakh people were benefitted last year, the bankers informed.

Moreover, under Stand-up scheme, 811 people last year received total loan of Rs 176.86 crore. During the current financial year, it is targetted to extend loans to 4,510 persons under Stand-up scheme.

The officials informed that under Pradhan Mantri Atal Awas Yojana, loans were approved for 2,968 persons during financial year 2017-18. Under National Urban Livelihood Mission, loans were approved for more than 16,000 persons, it was informed in the meeting.
