Indore : Motivated with fruitful strike of junior doctors, the state medical officers are planning similar agitation. Last week, state government had accepted junior doctors’ demand to increase their stipend.
Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers’ Association has decided to launch protest from August 12 against state government. They will work with black ribbons tied around their arms.
They have been objecting to interference of non-clinical administrative officers in health care matters. Their other demands include constitution of separate cadre for state health services, pay revision of doctors working in government hospitals every six months and security in hospitals.
Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers’ Association general secretary Dr Madhav Hasani said state government has ignored their long pending demands.
“We will observe pen down strike for one-hour for seven days at the end of which we will give mass resignation,” Dr Hasani added. They had gone on mass leave earlier too but it had no impact on government.
A week after withdrawing strike, the nursing, paramedical staff and technicians of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital said they will re-launch agitation to press for their demands. President of Sanyukta Morcha Swasthya Karmachari Sangthan Sohanlal Sharma said state government, which assured them to accept their demands, have not taken any steps.
