Coimbatore: The audit objection regarding the increment given to a total of 105 non-teaching staff of the Bharathiar University was cleared at the finance committee meeting held in Chennai on Thursday.
Based on a regulation of the Madras University, non-teaching staff members, who had completed postgraduate courses, were given pay hike. But an objection was raised regarding this.

“In the finance committee meeting held on Thursday, based on the welfare of the non-teaching staff members, the decision to give pay hike for a total of 105 of them who had completed PG courses was ratified,” a source from the university said. Also, the seventh pay commission was implemented for BU’s faculty members.

Meanwhile, a syndicate sub-committee meeting has been scheduled on Tuesday to discuss the formulation of regulations for the colleges, which have come forward to act as learner supporter centres for the university’s distance education programme. The meeting will decide the regulations for the memoranda of understanding (MOUs) to be signed with the colleges, which have come forward to act as learner support centres for the university. So far, 49 colleges have expressed interest in acting as the centres, the source said.

Also, the deadline for colleges to express interest to act as learner support centres has been extended till August 31. This is the second time the deadline is being extended. Earlier, it was extended for June 18 to July 31.
