Temp rises in Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperatures rose by a few notches at some places in Punjab and Haryana on Friday with Chandigarh recording a high of 34.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, the Met department said.

However, the city witnessed light rainfall in the evening.

Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul in Haryana recorded their respective maximums at 34.9, 37.6, 33.4 and 34.5 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, maximum temperatures in Amritsar was 36.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while maximum temperatures in Ludhiana and Patiala were 34.7 and 35.1 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two degrees above normal.

According to the Met department, light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places in both the states in next 24 hours.
