Sanju has earned Rs 341.22 crore at the box office.

A month after Sanju released, the Ranbir Kapoor film refuses to slow down as it became a blockbuster, broke some records of superstars and became the third highest box office earner ever among Hindi films. For Ranbir, whose earlier films did well but rarely crossed Rs 100 crore threshold, Rs 341.22 crore at the box office is a massive achievement indeed. The film easily crossed Aamir Khan’s PK’s Rs 340.8 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the figures on Twitter, “#Sanju surpasses *lifetime biz* of #PK... Now THIRD HIGHEST GROSSING *Hindi* film... [Week 5] Fri 45 lakhs, Sat 87 lakhs, Sun 1.15 cr, Mon 35 lakhs, Tue 40 lakhs, Wed 38 lakhs, Thu 34 lakhs. Total: 341.22 cr. India biz.” At the box office, Baahubali 2- The Conclusion’s Hindi version (Rs 510.99 crore) and Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 387.38 crore) are ahead of Sanju.

Sanju has weathered fresh releases such as Dhadak, Soorma, Fanney Khan, Karwaan and Mission Impossible Fallout to stay strong at box office. The Rajkumar Hirani film based on controversial actor Sanjay Dutt released on June 29. Coincidentally, Sanjay’s own film Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 also came after Sanju but could not register with the audience.

Fox Star Studios is also planning on releasing the film in the lucrative Chinese market. “We have buyers from China looking at the film and they have shown massive interest. There is active discussion for the release in the market there. We are hoping it will release in China before the end of this year. We will start with the release of the second part then see how it goes and take it forward from there,” said CEO Vijay Singh.

The Sonam Kapoor, paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala and Abushka Sharma film has made over Rs 500 crore worldwide. The film released on June 29.
