INSTEAD OF RUPAY BHARAT QR SHOULD BE PROMOTED
AMN / NEW DELHI
The Confederation of All India Traders ( CAIT) today welcomed decision of GST Council to award cashback for using BHIM & RuPay Digital Payment system on purchases but said that in reality the RuPay is a complete failure and instead the GST Council should use Bharat QR as a digital payment system.
CAIT National President Mr BC Bhartia & Secretary General Mr Praveen Khandelwal said that the adoption of RuPay Cards as payment technology whereas RuPay Cards have an extremely high online failure rate which leads to a bad consumer experience. Business is largely still a Cash on Delivery or cheque based play in India – the policy should push to create awareness on building confidence in digital payment platforms. Thus pushing RuPay on should not be the first level – rather ensuring the existing system is used the most is important. Most RuPay card holders might not be aware how to use it on ecommerce platforms. They firmly said that In addition, for merchants and consumers to benefit alike, BharatQR standards should be adopted and encouraged.
Bharat QR was launched as a low cost acceptance product in February 2017 as an interoperable QR code (Mastercard, Visa, Amex, and NPCI). Bharat QR was identified as the most scalable & optimum solution for the need of micro merchants in India. It came at the right time post demonetisation to accelerate the pace of Acceptance deployment.
