A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 in the Richter scale today hit southwest China's Tibet Autonomous region.
The epicentre was at a depth of 10 km, said the China Earthquake Networks Centre.
"The epicentre is at the sparsely populated area near the border of Ngari and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region," Ma Chunhong, head of the county publicity department said.
A rescue team has been sent to the seismic area, state run Xinhua news agency reported stating that no casualties have been reported so far.
