BENGALURU: Travel time by train between Bengaluru and Mysuru is set to become shorter by five minutes to 20 minutes. The South Western Railway (SWR) will increase the speed of seven trains from August 15.
Seven trains, including 16231 Mayiladuturai-Mysuru, 16024 Yeshwantpur-Mysuru, 16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru - Kannur/Karwar, 16232 Mysuru-Mayiladuturai, 16023 Mysuru-Yeshwantpur, 16217 Mysuru-Sainagar Shirdi and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar - KSR Bengaluru will be speeded up.
The electrification and doubling between Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru-Mysuru section was recently completed. “The travel time between the cities will come under 2 hour 30 minutes compared to 3 hours earlier,” said an official.
Bengaluru-Mysuru is the second busiest route after the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai section. SWR operates 27 pairs of daily passengers, express and superfast trains between these cities.
